Wow! We kicked off our 2017 concert season with yet another cracking Proms concert at the invitation of the Marketeers Carnival Club at Bridgwater Town Hall, which was brightly bedecked for the occasion in vast amounts of Union Jacks!
We shared the stage with the wonderful ‘Somerset Songbirds’, conducted by our very own Rachel Tilling, and talented young vocalist Sophie Morris. Radio Bristol presenter Emma Britton once again hosted the event in her own inimitable style and ‘Fun’ was the word!
Our two soloists, Greg Lovell and Rob Perham were amazing (as always!) and special mention too to Mark Mills and Christ Tilling for their front-of-stage contributions, who along with Rob, were adorned with a few atmospheric props for the occasion. I hope someone took some photos or videos!
A capacity audience, armed with the obligatory red, white and blue flags, hats and goodness knows what else, cheered, stomped, waved, whistled and sang their hearts out for the Proms finale, helped along with some more interesting offerings from our award winning percussion section.
All in all, a terrific night was had by all. Bridgwater, we love you!
