After weeks of intense rehearsals, the band were placed a very creditable 9th position (out of 18 bands)  after our performance at the National Brass Band Championship Second Section Finals held at The Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse on Sunday 15th September.

We had the misfortune to play from the dreaded number one spot on the day, but this did not dampen our spirits or determination and we gave an admirable performance of Edward Gregson’s test piece ‘Occasion’, which was enjoyed by the adjudicators.  The standard was, as you would expect of a National Competition, very high, and we were pleased with our result.  We have now firmly consolidated our position as a Second Section band to be reckoned with!

Our thanks go to Carl Whiteoak for all his incredibly hard work in preparing us for this prestigeous and hard fought contest.

Next up we are playing on and off throughout the day in the Town Square (Italian Gardens) in Weston on Saturday 21st September for the Weston College Graduations ceremonies.  No rest for the wicked!
