After a long two year search for a new bandroom we are delighted to announce that the band has recently moved in to a wonderful new sole use rehearsal facility in Congresbury, North Somerset. Having enjoyed 19 years in our previous home, this opens huge opportunities for the band and coincides perfectly with the loosening of coronavirus restrictions and the start of small group indoor rehearsals.

The big move happened on 15th May thanks to a group of willing band volunteers armed with a COVID-19 Risk Assessment, masks & sanitiser, sack trucks and a strong will to get it done. Moving 9 filing cabinets filled with 1,800 pieces of music and enough tuned percussion to keep a professional orchestra happy meant everyone was kept very busy.

Band Chairman Paul Field said, “We’re really excited to have managed to find our new home in Congresbury after a long hard search, which wasn’t made easier during the pandemic. A great team effort made things easier negotiating the lease over Zoom, conducting COVID-19 compliant site visits and moving huge amounts of gear under social distancing conditions.”

“We’re now really looking forward to being able to meet up, rehearsing together and opening up new opportunities for the band”

With onsite parking, easy access for the bands equipment and excellent acoustic properties for rehearsing it is a major step forward in the development of the band organisation. And with use of the onsite bar after rehearsals the band is confident it will be the shortest walk for a post rehearsal pint in the band’s history!

The band would like to thank the  Congresbury War Memorial Hall committee for giving us the opportunity to lease the space.  We look forward to a long partnership with them and the village of Congresbury.

The bandroom can be reached within 10 mins from J21 of the M5: Congresbury War Memorial Hall, High Street, Congresbury, BS49 5JA.
